Blind Light

Some more of my own stuff.
These were kind of a response to Gormley's 'Blind Light'.

Dark Room Experiments

Some of my own experiments in the dark room using photosensitive paper and various chemicals.

I think they'd make a cool book cover. Apologies for the shite scan quality.
Please comment, criticise etc or tweet me @WillYoungPhoto

Aaron Siskind

Siskind was an American abstract expressionist photographer.
I love all his work but i particularly want to reference the series 'Pleasures and Terrors of Levitation'.

I was recommended Siskinds work when a friend visited the Museum Of Modern Art in New York and they were holding an exhibition on abstract expressionism. There were many artists work mentioning at the exhibition so if you're interested click here.

Yang Yongliang

Chinese photo artist who creates sculptures out of photos of cityscapes.
My favourite below was featured on Juxtapoz.com.
If you havent been on Juxtapoz then youre missing out.

Inta Ruka

Inta Ruka is a Latvian Photographer.
Ruka documents rural life in the poorer suburbs of Riga.
If im perfectly honest im not that keen on the rest of her work, but this photo, I like. A lot.

Hengki Koentjoro

Koentjoro is a minimalist black and white photographer based in Jakarta, Indonesia.
His work is a series of projects, each focusing on a specific theme.
Some of my favourites are his underwater pictures but if you like minimalist black an white photography then you should check out his website or his art limited account which is more frequently updated.
His work was also featured in issue 9 of Fotoblur magazine.

Tsutomu Takahashi

Love the balance of colour in this.

Floris Neusüss

Loved this at the V&A Shadow Catchers exhibition in February.
Photos without cameras.

Jan Smaga

Polish photographer and artist. Sticks people to other people.
Quite odd. Quite lovely.

Anni Leppälä

Finnish Artist/ Photographer
Particularly like this one where she's used a large aperture to make the depth of field extremely shallow and then brought the ribbon out towards the camera from the piece to make it looks like its bleeding out.
A concept i could definitely enjoy experimenting with myself.

Another photograph i find stunningly simplistic below.

Sally Mann

One of my favourite alternative photographers.
Mann uses the wet plate collodion process that i have studied extensively and am desperate to try out.

Her series "The family and the Land" was at the photographers gallery in London a while back and i had the pleasure of going up to see the pictures as well as a full length documentary that showed how Mann works with her kids, the way the process is performed and also revealed more about what inspires her to create art in this way. If you do like her work, try and watch it, its well worth the time in my opinion.

Yellow Ostrich

Also love his cover of 'Zebra' by 'Beach House'.

Hans Bremer

Hans Bremer, German photographer born 1885.

Im particularly interested in art that relates to the manipulation of the human form and particularly that which plays with the concept of manipulating human form into something of an object or sculpture.

Welcome

My Name is Will Young.

This blog will be simply a place for me to post anything art, photography or music related as a point of reference for myself in the future if I ever want to find an artist again, a bit like an online sketchbook.

It will be a place where I post artists or particular pieces that I personally like or find interesting so that I can come back to it in the future. If you think your work fits with the kind of thing I post, drop me a comment on here as I'm always keen to see new work and If it's appropriate I will happily post it.
